Ezoic has introduced new controls for its Floating Video Player, giving publishers more control over the size and mobile positions of floating video ads while still allowing Ezoic to optimize the experience for revenue and user engagement.
The update allows publishers to define a set of approved configurations rather than being locked into a single floating video setup. Ezoic can then optimize among the options selected by the publisher based on performance.
More Control Over Player Size
Publishers can now choose a maximum size for the Floating Video Player from four options:
- 640 × 360
- 544 × 306 — default
- 480 × 270
- 300 × 169
Ezoic recommends 544 × 306 or 640 × 360, citing stronger advertiser demand for those sizes.
The player does not initially appear at the full selected size. It starts at approximately 60% of the selected maximum size and can be expanded by the visitor.
Publishers Can Choose Mobile Positions
The update also adds control over where the Floating Video Player can appear on mobile devices.
Publishers can enable any combination of:
- Top bar
- Bottom float
- Hybrid
Ezoic recommends enabling all three options. This gives its optimization system a wider range of approved placements while ensuring that the player remains within the positions the publisher has chosen.
Publishers can also independently enable or disable the Floating Video Player for desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.
Reported Revenue Increase
According to Ezoic’s reported results from the optimization, the updated approach produced a 7.9% increase in video revenue, while bounce rate and time on site also improved.
The potential benefit is that publishers don’t have to choose between giving Ezoic complete control and manually selecting one fixed configuration. Instead, they can define acceptable options and allow Ezoic to determine which performs best.
How to Enable the New Settings
The Floating Video Player settings are available in the Ezoic Dashboard under:
Ezoic Ads → Ad Types → Floating Video
From there, open the Floating Video Player card and turn the main toggle on.
A reasonable starting configuration for publishers is the 544 × 306 maximum player size, all three mobile positions enabled, and the device types where they want the player to appear.
The update could be particularly useful for publishers who want to experiment with video monetization without giving up control over how floating ads affect their site’s layout and user experience.
